In an enviable location, the Patria Palace Hotel is right in the historic center. The structure lives of the charm and beauty rich in history of an ancient eighteenth-century palace, which was the noble residence of the D'Anna-Petrarolo family. The building is the work of the Lecce-born architect Mauro Manieri who also designed the Church of Sant'Irene and the Church of Carmine in Lecce. After various vicissitudes, the palace was donated to a religious order and, for several years, it was a well known orphanage in the Salento peninsula. In 1850 it was bought by the engineer Giacomo Gridi's family who opened the first 'Locanda per viandanti'. We are in the Risorgimento period that will lead us towards the Unification of Italy and the 'Locanda' acquires, by the owners' will, the name of 'Locanda Patria'. The Patria Palace Hotel has always been a landmark of the city of Lecce and the whole of Apulia, meeting point for personalities and political figures of the time. Recent history tells us about a total restyling in 1997 by artists and master craftsmen who have made the hotel modern and welcoming, leaving intact the charm and atmosphere of its history. Convenient to reach, just 1.5 km from the railway station of Lecce, less than 40 km from Brindisi International Airport and only 5 minutes from the entrance of the city.
