An authentic experience in the heart of Southern Italy, featuring castles, sanctuaries, rock-cut cities, and panoramas that reveal a land still waiting to be discovered.
Venosa – Participant pick-up at the airport and transfer by bus to Venosa, the city of Horace, one of the best-preserved historical centers in Basilicata. Brief visit to the historical center. Hotel check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.
Venosa – Maratea – Breakfast. Visit to Melfi with its Frederickian castle and a stop at the Monticchio lakes. In the afternoon, a visit to Maratea on the Tyrrhenian Sea, a magnificent town that preserves numerous historical and artistic testimonies such as the Mother Church, the Church of San Biagio, and several noble palaces. Stop at the famous Christ the Redeemer, one of the largest statues in Italy. Proceed to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Aliano – Stigliano – Badlands Tour – Breakfast, departure for a visit to the “calanchi” (badlands) that characterize the rugged landscape of south-eastern Lucania between the Sauro, Agri, and Basento valleys. In this territory, it is possible to observe furrows arranged in parallel or fan-like patterns, created by the erosion of surface waters on clay slopes, known as “calanchi” and perfectly described in Carlo Levi’s work “Christ Stopped at Eboli.” Stops in the municipalities of Aliano and Stigliano. Arrival at the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Viggianello – Tursi – Breakfast, departure for the Pollino National Park where we will visit, with a nature guide, one of the most beautiful parks in Southern Italy, reaching Viggianello. The park preserves numerous rare tree species, most notably the Bosnian pine. Lunch featuring typical products at a restaurant. In the afternoon, an important stop at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Anglona in the municipality of Tursi: one of the most significant examples of Romanesque architecture in Basilicata. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

Located in the Lucanian Apennines, east of the more imposing Pierfaone-Volturino-Viggiano ridge, the Small Lucanian Dolomites form the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the same name. They are called Dolomites due to their morphological resemblance to the more famous mountains in the Triveneto region. We will visit the centers of Pietrapertosa and Castelmezzano. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Matera – Murgia Materana – Breakfast, departure for Matera, one of the oldest cities in Italy. Matera is a UNESCO World Heritage site, unique for being partially carved into the rock; its caves were inhabited until the late 1950s.
